Do you know Lynda Susan Weinman? (If no, this is for you)
2020 Is an Action Packed Year But for Who?
🎈 For the individual who is fed up with procrastination.
🎈 For the individual who is tired of hiding.
🎈 For the individual who understands the breakthrough power in “one more try”
🎈for Lilian Ohanedozi. Yes look at me and get use to it because you will be seeing a lot of me.
🎈For the person who is done waiting for the right time. Jeez let this excuse of waiting for the right time be banished from your thoughts. At risk of sounding like a broken record let me reiterate “there’s no right time anywhere: the time you choose to start is your right time” so start now. Some of the beautiful things in my life happened when I had no perfect map.
🎈So if you’re still waiting to start that business you’re snoozing just get on with it already. Don’t be afraid of mistakes because like it or not you would make them.
There’s a way I choose to define a mistake or a failure and that is “something that happens to teach me what I need to know”. If you have this definition at the back of your mind you won’t be afraid of mistakes or failure.
🎈 Test and run that idea in your head. Start up that business. You have preached long enough; get to work.
🎈 The truth is that no one will support you until they see what you can do so if you’re waiting to garner support first before going out to do something, “you’re sitting on a loooong thing”
🎈 Are you still ashamed of what you do, do you talk about it in secret corners? The spotlight is yours to take this year if you have the balls to do some work.
🎈Let the case of Lynda Weinman spur you into action as we end this week. Lynda Weinman was a ‘web design’ teacher (an online school) who identified a problem.
What’s that problem?
The technical books available for her to teach her classes with were bland, not adequate to teach web design. (Some teachers won’t even notice talk more of bother)
So what did Lynda Weinman do?
She began producing training films for her students. She was exceptionally good at this so she spent the next twenty years building a content library and tech assets to help her students, this not only went viral but gave her website an edge and of course it naturally became an addition to her business that attracted the attention of Linkedin who had to pay $1.5 billion dollars to acquire the company in April 2015. (Wow!)
🎈 The take away from this story is this- always look for ways to improve what you’re given and what you do. Look for ways to improve where you are. Don’t turn a blind eye or have the ‘it doesn’t concern me’ behaviour of government workers 😘
What about content? She didn’t play down the importance of content. Some people only care about the money they’re paid and not the value of what they dish out. Lynda Weinman could have been content using those bland textbooks but she wasn’t.
Because a value driven individual is not a mediocre and therefore does not sit with mediocrity! I don’t know this woman but I like her🤗
🎈 Also notice the two ways you can start a business
– Solve a problem
– Sell something
This year 2020 is an action packed year but for who?
To your continued business success.
